Lot Details
13th to 16thC. A brown stoneware figure of a clothed kneeling woman with a top knot holding a child to her breast. The upper part dipped in a white slip and in underglaze black. 5.5 x 5.2 x 11.5 cm. A similar figure although unattributed to a particular site is illustrated in Roxanna M Brown, Legend and reality early from SouthEast Asia (Cologne: Museum fur Ostasiatische Kunst, 1977), no. 152. Acquired at Webb's Asian art June live sale, 13 June 2020, lot 266. Sold as 'A 14th Century Chinese Yuxi Kiln Blue and White Ceramics Statue’.
